about
I am a writer and artist of color, and I live in Richmond, Virginia after teaching and living in Houston my entire life. I now teach Creative Writing at William & Mary. I earned my Master of Fine Arts from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and my PhD in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. I am the author of the queer Asian young adult novel Dear Twin and the adult queer biracial Asian non-binary retelling of Frankenstein, Unwieldy Creatures. My academic monograph, Straight White Men Can’t Dance: American Masculinity in Film and Popular Culture, is forthcoming from Bloomsbury in late 2025/early 2026. I am Fiction co-Editor and editor of Features & Reviews at Anomaly. I am Founding Editor and Editor in Chief at just femme & dandy.
I write poetry, fiction, hybrid, and nonfiction. I dabble in photography.
I like to collaborate:
Most notably as a dance dramaturg with Dominic Walsh, choreographer and director of Dominic Walsh Dance Theater: Victor Frankenstein (as co-conceiver), and Camille Claudel (as narrative collaborator).
