twin/skin: perspectives on twinhood

For far too long, our popular understanding of how it feels to live as a twin, identical or otherwise, has come to us via documentary, fiction, poetry, television, and film through singletons, those who were born alone and understood themselves as individual. twin/skin will be the first anthology of its kind—a multi-genre anthology that offers a space for twinned writers and artists to speak about what it means to live as one, as two, and that nebulous terrain in between. We will prioritize submissions from underrepresented writers, such as those from writers who are Black, Indigenous, and other writers of color, as well as those in the LGBTQIA+ and disability communities. We are interested in hearing from a wide range of lived perspectives around twinhood, such as, but not limited to: mirror twins, identical twins, fraternal twins, conjoined twins. We also welcome submissions addressing twin representation in art, literature, music, popular media, etc., but we are not interested in submissions from individuals who do not have a lived experience with twinhood (including parents or other extended family relationships with twins). We will consider previous published work but prefer previously unpublished work. For long-form prose submissions, please send drafts that are between 2-4,000 words. All nonfiction approaches will be considered, including visual art, poetry, flash/micro nonfiction, lyric essay, hybrid, and all other nonfiction forms. Please send in your pitches by August 30, 2024 and your full drafts no later than September 30, 2024.

Please send all pitches and complete drafts to twinskinanthology@gmail.com.
